Jana Kramer and Jessie James Decker Talk About Their New Single, ‘Do It In Heels’

Country artists Jana Kramer and Jessie James Decker chatted about their new duet single “Do It In Heels.”

Idea for the new single ‘Do It In Heels’

On the idea for this new single, Jana stated, “I was writing in Los Angeles a few years ago, and I was really just craving fun music because I was sick and tired of my sad songs.”

“So, I decided to write a really fun, up-tempo song and I wanted it to be a girl anthem; something that is catchy, fun, and not cheesy,” Jana said.

“We started to have fun with the song, and the entire time I thought it would be cool to sing it with another female artist,” Jana noted.

Jana continued, “Obviously, I first thought of Jessie because she is incredible, she is a good friend of mine, and she would be killer on this song. About a year later, I had the courage to send it to her and see if she liked it, and Jessie said she loved it.”

“After both of us have some babies, then it was the time for us to release it,” Jana noted.

“I am grateful how the song came together. Jessie brought so much to this song! She was able to bring life to it with her incredible riffs. Jessie crushed it,” Jana added.

Jessie James Decker on working with Jana Kramer

On working with Jana Kramer on this song, Jessie remarked, “Jana is the best! Jana and I have been friends for years. It felt like working with a girlfriend. We worked so well together, and we had so much fun recording it in the studio together.”

“The first time I heard the song, I knew it was a hit. It has such a great hook, and I love the message,”Jessie admitted.

“I love the production, and I just love everything about it. I jumped on this opportunity to work with one of my girlfriends. We were able to do something that we both love,” Jessie elaborated.

Jana on the lessons learned from this song

On the lesson learned from this song, Jana remarked, “We are women who have a lot to juggle. We do it all with grace, class, and we don’t always do it in heels. We are carrying a lot.”

“To all the women out there, you are rocking it, and you are doing it,” Jana said about the message that she wants to get across with this song.

“Even though they might not be perfect, they are still doing a great job,” Jana added.

Jana on whether or not there will be a music video in the works

When asked if there will be a music video for the song, Jana responded, “If the song picks up a lot of steam… who knows? Maybe so. These days, they are not doing a lot of music videos. We just put up social clips of the song. Never say never.”

Advice for hopefuls that wish to go into music and entertainment

For hopefuls that wish to go into music and entertainment, Jana said, “If music is something that you want to do, then don’t give up on your dreams. I started with acting, and I didn’t have a fallback plan. This is what I wanted to do.”

“If this is something  you truly want, you continue to work at it each day and you follow that path, then that path will come to fruition, especially if you work really hard at it,” Jana elaborated.

Balancing careers with kids, husbands, and family lives

On balancing their careers with kids, husbands and family lives, Jana said, “It is one of those things that is a balancing act. I love what I do and it’s important to tell my kids that too. I want them to see the joy in that because one day I want them to be independent and find their passions and their joys too.”

“When I am home and I am not working, I am very present with my kids,” Jana noted. “I don’t have a 9 to 5 job every day, so I can be with my kids for weeks, and it is just us. That’s one of the positives of being in this industry,” Jana elaborated.

“This industry gives you more flexibility to have more time with your kids and be present,” Jana added.

Jessie stated, “I am echoing everything Jana said about this being a balancing act. If you put things in perspective and you balance in a way when the priorities come first, then everything else somehow ends up balancing itself out.”

“When you prioritize what is the most important to you, then you don’t feel like anything else is falling to the wayside,” Jessie noted.

“Just like Jana said, when she is at home, she is present with her kids, but then, she also gets to go off and be a movie star and her kids get to see that, Having that balance in life is so important because you should be able to do  the things you love but also the other things as well: being an actor, doing music, or being a mother,” Jessie acknowledged.

“We can have it all and do it all, as long as you prioritize what is most important,” Jessie added.

Jana defines success

Jana furnished their definition of the word success. “Success is a happy and healthy family,” Jana said. “Noting beats seeing my kids smile, laugh, and being happy and healthy.”

Jana on her Lifetime holiday movie, working with Adam Senn and Max Ehrich

Jana recalled starring in “A Cowboy Christmas Romance,” which premiered on Lifetime, which was written by Sarah Drew.

Jana worked alongside such actors as Adam Senn and Max Ehrich. “I love working with both of them. They are both great guys,” Jana said.

“Adam is such a good dude! Max also did a song for that movie, and he is a sweetheart. Max and I still keep in touch, and I love supporting him even from afar,” Jana added.

Closing thoughts on ‘Do It In Heels’

On their new duet single, Jessie expressed, “This song shows that we can do it all… and we can do it with our hair down, some new perfume, wearing high heels, and doing it with confidence.”

“I love the unity of the song and the camaraderie of the womanhood; it is just a way to bring us all together and have a smile on our face while doing it,” Jessie noted.

“I think it’s a great song with a great message, and I am so excited for people to hear it,” Jessie concluded.
