Country Star Tyler Rich Pens Heartfelt Children’s Book, Dogs Don’t Die

Country music artist Tyler Rich is expanding his storytelling talents beyond the stage with the release of his debut children’s book, Dogs Don’t Die – a quiet, comforting story for children navigating the heartbreaking loss of a beloved pet.

The book is available now in hardcover HERE and in paperback and Kindle formats HERE.

Inspired by his emotional fan-favorite song of the same name, Dogs Don’t Die was written in the wake of saying goodbye to Rich’s own dog, Abby. The story offers a gentle, hope-filled path through grief, helping young readers understand that the love of a furry best friend never truly fades.

With warm, emotional imagery and a message rooted in connection and healing, Dogs Don’t Die reminds readers of all ages that goodbye isn’t the end — not when it comes to those we love the most. The text was written by Rich and illustrated by Robby F.

“This book came from one of the hardest goodbyes of my life,” says Rich. “But I wanted to create something that could bring comfort, especially to kids who are experiencing that kind of loss for the first time. Dogs give us so much joy and unconditional love — this is my way of honoring that.”

Self-published by Rich, the book is a labor of love and creative independence, reflecting the deeply personal nature of the story. Whether read at bedtime, in classrooms, or together as a family, Dogs Don’t Die is a meaningful tool for starting important conversations around grief, memory, and healing.

But I know Abby’s farm in the sky is
right down here with me.
I see her on the front porch of my mind.
And in all the little ways she reminds me she’s still here.

The book also includes a special keepsake – a pullout sheet for each child to memorialize their own dog and preserve that memory forever.

His song “Dogs Don’t Die” was released earlier this year on all streaming platforms via ONErpm. Written by Rich, Blake Bollinger, and Steven Lee Olsen after the loss of Abby, both the song and the book aim to comfort those experiencing similar grief — a reminder that the love dogs give makes every moment worth it. Rich will be releasing additional books in the future.
