Austin Snell Drops New EP Colors

Georgia-born country upstart Austin Snell cracks open the kaleidoscope of his burgeoning artistry on new EP, Colors, available everywhere now via River House Artists / Warner Records Nashville. Listen HERE.

“This EP is what ‘healing’ sounds like for me,” Snell shares. “It’s taking what I used to be ashamed of and making it a part of my identity. It’s growing up and watching an unhealthy love story, making some of those same mistakes, and not liking that version of myself – then it’s finding a love that I don’t want to lose. This project is special to me; I hope it is to you as well.”

A seven-song collection where each track touches bruised territory, intentionally timed to the start of Mental Health Awareness Month, Colors illustrates a raw, understated side of Snell and “points the way ahead for this exciting newcomer” (HITS). From opener “Daddy’s Eyes,” a quietly defiant meditation on family and fidelity, to mental health ruminator “Everything But Okay;” vulnerable confession, “Have It All,” to patient, prismatic title track “Colors,” Snell’s inner world is on full display – the good, the bad, and the beautifully broken.

To pair with the EP release, Snell put together a once-in-a-lifetime official music video for the project’s title track. Premiered exclusively by Holler today, Snell proposed to his girlfriend of 3+ years, Ally in the video shot at Nashville’s Scarritt Bennett Center and directed by trusted collaborator, Emma Kate Golden. Austin wrote “Colors” for Ally, the cornerstone of the new EP and the start of a new era in his personal life and musical career.

Snell shared with the outlet: “I’ve written her a couple songs in the past, but they’ve always felt too ‘polished’ for us. Our mental health has always been something we’ve focused on and struggled with at points. And I just wanted to write her a song that felt real. But also, just tell her I’m going to be here regardless of highs and lows.”

Colors comes on the heels of August-released EP Home Sweet Hell – a seven-track, true country collection of songs that Billboard praises as “Snell’s most captivating to date.” Country Central doubles down: “Snell hasn’t really shown this kind of honesty…a refreshing change of pace.”Snell just wrapped his 10-date headlining Home Sweet Hell Tour, with more tour dates across fairs and festivals coming this summer.
